QUEZON CITY - Lawmakers led by Davao City First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte have pressed Congress to swiftly pass a measure requiring business establishments to install and maintain closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in their workplaces and exits, as a means to deter crime and aid investigations conducted by law enforcers.
With Benguet Rep. Eric Yap and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap, the Davao City lawmaker filed House Bill (HB) 8068 that aims to mandate all businesses employing more than 20 workers and with work premises of not less than 50 meters to install CCTV or surveillance cameras and maintain these in good working condition.

after traffic enforcer gunned down in Cavite
DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to strengthen its efforts in regulating gun ownership, starting with imposing more rigid screening procedures in issuing licenses to possess and carry firearms.
A traffic enforcer who was shot dead in cold blood by a drunk motorcycle rider in Tanza, Cavite, is just one case that shows why the PNP should revisit its regulations and procedures in issuing gun ownership licenses, Duterte said.

Rep. Duterte wants discounted fees, subsidies for poor PUV drivers applying for professional driver’s licenses
DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte and two other lawmakers have proposed the grant of an across-the-board 20 percent discount to indigent public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers on the payment of fees and other requirements needed in securing a professional driver’s license.
In filing House Bill (HB) 8070, Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap said the discount applies to, among others, examination fees, certificates, clearances, and enrollment in accredited driving schools.

DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has offered a P1-million cash reward to any individual who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of an architect, whose body was found in an open canal in Barangay Dacudao in Calinan here last week.
Davao police earlier confirmed that the 28-year-old victim, Vlanche Marie Bragas, a resident of Megaville, was also sexually assaulted before she was murdered by still unidentified suspect/s. The police found her cadaver in Dacudao at around 8 a.m. on May 17 following reports from concerned citizens.

Rep. Duterte seeks pay hike for public social workers
QUEZON CITY - Lawmakers led by Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte have pushed for the increase in pay of public social workers in recognition of the indispensable role that these unsung heroes play in assisting the poor and other vulnerable sectors of society.
Under House Bill (HB) 7573, Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap have proposed that the entry-level pay of public social workers be increased from Salary Grade 10 or P23,176 to Salary Grade 13, which is equivalent to P31,320.

Duterte, Yap propose creation of additional NLRC division in Davao to further speed up disposition of labor disputes
QUEZON CITY - Representatives Paolo Duterte (Davao City, First District) and Eric Yap (Lone District Benguet) have pushed for the creation of an additional division in the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) to further improve the body’s accomplishment rate in resolving labor-related disputes.
In filing House Bill No. 4958, the two lawmakers said that establishing an additional division in the NLRC is “in support of its mission to resolve labor disputes in the fairest, quickest, least expensive, and most effective way possible.”

DAVAO CITY – At least 25 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scholars who completed their “training in breadmaking” received starter toolkits at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines on April 25, Tuesday afternoon.
Among the beneficiaries who received the toolkits are scholars of the First Congressional District Office. In partnership with the TESDA and in support of the scholars who completed their training, Benben Isidro and James Vergara attended the event.

Fire victims in Dumalag 1 get relief aid from Rep. Paolo Duterte’s district office
DAVAO CITY – Over 60 families affected by a recent fire here received immediate assistance from the Office of First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.
The First Congressional District Office noted around 66 families currently staying at Shanghai Gym, Matina Aplaya received heavy meals on April 21 and food packs the following day.

Paolo Duterte tops performing district representative in Davao Region
DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Z. Duterte ranked first in the Top Performing District Representative Survey in Davao Region conducted by the RP-Mission Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
Duterte garnered 81.3 percent of the vote followed by Maria Carmen Zamora, of Davao de Oro province, with 80.5 percent. Duterte welcomed the survey results and thanked the general public for their support.

Duterte, Yap want DOTr to check, upgrade security facilities in airports
QUEZON CITY - Representatives Paolo Duterte (Davao City, 1st District) and Eric Yap (Lone District, Benguet) have urged the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to check the status of, and upgrade, the security facilities in the country’s airports to lessen congestion in passenger terminals and heighten measures on ensuring public safety.
In a resolution, the two lawmakers also said the DOTR should incorporate in its proposed budget for 2024 the expenditures needed to improve these facilities given the ever-increasing number of travelers going in and out of the country.
