First District

DAVAO CITY - The First Congressional District, which is 10,054 hectares in size, is composed of 54 barangays from two administrative districts - Talomo and Poblacion - with 592,736 population based on the 2015 Census.


The Talomo District, a coastal part of Davao City, has 14 barangays with 418, 615 population. It has temples and parks that are considered important local landmarks here in the city.


There are also places in Talomo District that are popular among local and foreign tourists. From Japanese tunnel resort to farm and wildlife parks, a scenic view of Davao City from a top of the hill with restaurants serving exquisite local and foreign delicacies, the hangout place of both young and old are just some of the spectacular spots of the district.


Talomo District has various public and private schools for kindergarten, elementary, high school, and senior high students. Well-known universities and state colleges are also found here.


On the other hand, Poblacion District is a droning mix of businesses and hotels with People’s Park as its heart, a sculpture-filled green space popular for jogging and picnics. It has a total of 40 barangays with 174, 121 population.


Among the establishments you will find in Poblacion District are the City Hall of Davao, Sangguniang Panlungsod, First Congressional District Office, and other city government offices.


Many famous hotels in the city are found in Poblacion. Also, amusement parks, museums, pasalubong centers, and night markets are among the favorite places by both local and foreign tourists. Moreover, big shopping malls and public markets are also here.


Prominent colleges and universities are found in Poblacion District. Places of worship, meanwhile, of Catholics, born-again Christians, Muslims, and other religious sects are evident in the area.


The First Congressional District is a highly urbanized and fast-growing area of Davao City and the home of the country's beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The constituents continue to work together with their policymakers to sustain the progress and development of the District.
