52 Dabawenyos Donate Blood in Second Bloodletting Drive

DAVAO CITY — Fifty-two Dabawenyos from various barangays rolled up their sleeves and donated blood on Monday, September 7, in a community bloodletting drive aimed at helping patients who may need life-saving transfusions.

The second bloodletting activity of the Office of the First Congressional District of Davao City, led by Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, was held at People’s Park along Palma Gil Street in Davao City.

The activity was conducted in partnership with the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Blood Production Service under the Department of Health, with the goal of encouraging voluntary blood donation and helping augment the city’s blood supply.

A total of 52 individuals from different barangays participated in the drive.  As a gesture of appreciation, donors were provided with food packs, meals, and snacks after undergoing the donation process.

The activity was supported by the staff of Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte and personnel from the Office of City Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, with assistance from Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from Barangay 34-D, Barangay 8-A, Barangay 21-C, and Barangay 35-D.

Organizers underscored that blood donation is a simple act of generosity that can make a life-changing difference for patients, particularly those requiring blood transfusions because of illness, surgery, accidents, or other medical emergencies.

The activity concluded without any untoward incident, with organizers citing the cooperation of the donors, health workers, volunteers, partner offices, and medical personnel.

The First Congressional District Office thanked the SPMC Blood Production Service, participating donors, BHWs, partner offices, volunteers, and staff for helping make the activity a success.

The office also encouraged more Dabawenyos to participate in future bloodletting activities and continue supporting efforts that promote volunteerism and community service.  One blood donation can help save a life. One act of generosity can give someone another chance.

HELP SAVE A LIFE. DONATE BLOOD.
