DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has underscored the need for Congress to do its part in making Filipino graduates “employment-ready” by swiftly acting on proposed education reforms that would effectively address the jobs-skills mismatch in the country and bolster enterprise-based education.
These measures, along with his recently filed bill that seeks to establish early learning programs for indigent pre-kindergarten children, will help lessen the effects of the pandemic-induced education crisis in the country, Duterte said.

DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has underscored the urgency of passing a law that would protect financial borrowers from public shaming, extortionate interest charges and other vicious online lending practices that continue to claim more victims despite a supposed government crackdown against abusive moneylenders.
He called on the Congress to immediate tackle bills that aim to regulate the online lending sector when it resumes session in two weeks, so as to speed up the passage of a law that would expressly prohibit the unfair, deceptive and shameful practices resorted to by online loan sharks.

DAVAO CITY – First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte has consistently demonstrated a solid commitment to enhancing the well-being of the people he served, as shown in his accomplishments in his first year as a second termer in the House of Representatives (HOR).
The lawmaker released on June 30, Friday, his accomplishments from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. He highlighted the 169 House Bills he had authored, of which five were enacted into law, while others are still pending in the different committees in the HOR, and some were in the Senate for reading.

On National Kidney Month, Rep. Duterte seeks establishment of dialysis wards for poor patients in public hospitals
QUEZON CITY - Alarmed over the growing number of cases of end-stage kidney disease in the country,
Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte and two other lawmakers have sought the approval of a measure that will require government hospitals to set up wards for dialysis and provide this treatment for free to indigent patients.
Duterte, along with Benguet Rep. Eric Yap and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap, noted that dialysis treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 (CKD 5) or end-stage kidney disease remains costly for most Filipinos, especially for poor patients, which was why they are pressing Congress to approve their proposed measure as outlined under House Bill (HB) 7841.

DAVAO CITY – The First Congressional District Office noted on Friday, June 2, over 3,000 identified beneficiaries from the first district received their payout on the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Davao City.
According to the office of Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte, 5,430 individuals applied for the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) program. The latter conducts the assessment after profiling the applicants completed by the First Congressional District Office.

QUEZON CITY - Lawmakers led by Davao City First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte have pressed Congress to swiftly pass a measure requiring business establishments to install and maintain closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in their workplaces and exits, as a means to deter crime and aid investigations conducted by law enforcers.
With Benguet Rep. Eric Yap and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap, the Davao City lawmaker filed House Bill (HB) 8068 that aims to mandate all businesses employing more than 20 workers and with work premises of not less than 50 meters to install CCTV or surveillance cameras and maintain these in good working condition.

DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to strengthen its efforts in regulating gun ownership, starting with imposing more rigid screening procedures in issuing licenses to possess and carry firearms.
A traffic enforcer who was shot dead in cold blood by a drunk motorcycle rider in Tanza, Cavite, is just one case that shows why the PNP should revisit its regulations and procedures in issuing gun ownership licenses, Duterte said.

DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte and two other lawmakers have proposed the grant of an across-the-board 20 percent discount to indigent public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers on the payment of fees and other requirements needed in securing a professional driver’s license.
In filing House Bill (HB) 8070, Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap said the discount applies to, among others, examination fees, certificates, clearances, and enrollment in accredited driving schools.

DAVAO CITY - First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has offered a P1-million cash reward to any individual who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of an architect, whose body was found in an open canal in Barangay Dacudao in Calinan here last week.
Davao police earlier confirmed that the 28-year-old victim, Vlanche Marie Bragas, a resident of Megaville, was also sexually assaulted before she was murdered by still unidentified suspect/s. The police found her cadaver in Dacudao at around 8 a.m. on May 17 following reports from concerned citizens.
