DAVAO CITY – Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, son of Davao City First District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Z. Duterte, led a series of gift–giving initiatives in the First District from November 16 to December 28, bringing holiday cheer to thousands of residents.
Over 10,000 residents, including children, received much–needed food packs, cash assistance, and other Christmas gifts, underscoring the Duterte family’s commitment to community support during the holiday season.
During last month's “Rudy Sagop Bata” event at Rizal Park, San Pedro Street, Rigo distributed food packs and cash support to 471 individuals. In addition, 74 solo parents received the same assistance, recognizing their resilience and dedication to their families.
Families affected by recent fire incidents in barangays Ma-a, 10-A, 76-A Bucana, and Catalunan Pequeño were also prioritized. At least 77 families or 200 individuals received food packs, water containers, mineral water, packed lunches, and cash to help them recover from the incident.
Rigo’s efforts extended to the city’s fisherfolk communities, with food packs distributed to 11,445 individuals from various barangays in the first district. Additional aid reached 2,800 fisherfolks in barangays Sirawan and Lizada in Toril and Calinan.
He also brought smiles to over 200 children during the “Pahalipay ni Rigo sa mga Bata” event in barangays Matina Aplaya and 39-D. The event featured fun activities and raffles, where children took home food packs, tumblers, and umbrellas.
Thousands of senior citizens and women expressed their joy and gratitude. Rigo attended their Christmas parties to distribute raffle prizes and join in the festivities, ensuring they were not left behind during the holiday season.
Rigo and his brother Omar Vincent Duterte, barangay chief of Buhangin Proper, also joined their grandfather, former President Rodrigo R. Duterte, in giving gifts during the Pasko Fiesta on Dec. 21.
He said their collective efforts highlighted the Duterte family’s commitment to serving the people and spreading the Christmas spirit through generosity, strengthening unity, and ensuring no one is left behind during the holiday season.
Rigo’s involvement in these events showcased his contribution to the Duterte family’s tradition of community service. His efforts brought support and joy to many Davaoeños this holiday season, from providing disaster relief to spreading holiday cheer.
