Rep. Paolo Duterte to prioritize poor families

DAVAO CITY – First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte said on Monday, January 18, that his office will prioritize assistance to the marginalized and indigent families in the first district here in Davao City amid the coronavirus global pandemic.
Rep. Duterte, in a press conference, expressed his full support to President Rodrigo R. Duterte, his father, to prioritize assistance to the poor and the frontliners as well, in response to the public health emergency over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Among priority karon kung unsang matabang sa mga negosyante, sa katawhan, sa tanan, na magpadayon atong kinabuhi na naay pangita.” Rep. Duterte said.
Rep. Duterte said the legislature seeks to amend the economic provisions of the Philippine Constitutions, to help the country prepare and combat public health emergencies brought about by the natural mishaps, or recent outbreaks and pandemics like COVID-19.
The young congressman said that his staff is continuously going around the areas under his jurisdiction to check if there are other sectors who have yet to receive assistance from the government.
Rep. Duterte said his office will continue to deliver necessary programs and services for the general public, especially to those people affected by the pandemic like the marginalized and displaced workers, persons with disability, and single parents, among many others.
“Padayon atong ayuda para sa katawhan ug kung naay mga additional na panginahanglan na makita nato sa taga-Dabaw maoy atong i-address una,” he added.
Among the beneficiaries who received cash aid, following the ongoing caravan of the First Congressional District Office, are referees, coaches, terminal vendors, gasoline attendants, KTV workers, janitorial staff, and drivers, hotel and restaurant workers, all residents from the first district.
Rep. Duterte thanked the president and other local and national government officials for their support to Davao City. He also thanked all the beneficiaries who attended the caravan. He assured that the assistance will be distributed to identified beneficiaries.
