DAVAO CITY – At least 25 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scholars who completed their “training in breadmaking” received starter toolkits at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines on April 25, Tuesday afternoon.

Among the beneficiaries who received the toolkits are scholars of the First Congressional District Office. In partnership with the TESDA and in support of the scholars who completed their training, Benben Isidro and James Vergara attended the event.

The “distribution of the toolkits” was jointly conducted by the TESDA Davao District Office, House of Representatives, and DMMA College of Southern Philippines.

Kimberly Ballerda, office-in-charge manager of the DMMA College’s Culinary and Training Center, said the beneficiaries each received an electric oven with measuring cups and weighing scales for their plans of baking and starting up a small business.

“The TESDA with the House of Representatives is providing the 25 beneficiaries starter toolkits to help them launch their livelihood and use what they learned from our training into practice after they have acquired skills through the training program,” Ballerda said.

James Vergara of the First Congressional District Office said they are happy to hand the certificates of completion and the starter toolkits to the scholars.

"The kit comprises baking materials they can use to start their business right away. What is special about this training program is that after their graduation, the knowledge and the skills they have learned can be immediately used with these tools,” Vergara said.

The Culmination of the 18-Day TESDA Scholarship Program is sponsored by the First Congressional District Office in cooperation with Davao City Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre and Che Alejandre, of DMMA College. 

Vergara, on behalf of the First Congressional District Office, said that they wish the completers all the luck now that they have the knowledge and the skills for their future endeavors.

“We wish you a successful business from hereon. and we invite everyone else to join and apply for the scholarship program that we have under the First Congressional District Office,” Vergara said.
