DAVAO CITY – Barangay Catalunan Grande has kicked off on September 4 its vaccination drive in coordination with the offices of the City Local Government and the First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.
The barangay Catalunan Grande headed by Punong Barangay January N. Duterte, opened a vaccination hub to facilitate the jabbing of COVID-19 vaccines to its unvaccinated constituents and other residents from neighboring barangays. The program also aims to help the city reach its goal for herd immunity by speeding up vaccination drives and making it more accessible to its community.
City Health Office (CHO) rural health physician Dr. Ely Buenaventura said that Catalunan Grande was the first barangay in the city to roll out the "Sinopharm” vaccines. He added that the newly-opened vaccination hub targets 500 people to get vaccinated per day.
“We make it sure that the process in giving vaccination to registered individuals will be smoothed. Kung systematic ang flow kaya nato estimated 1,000 or more people a day ang mabakunahan. As of today, we have 600 available vaccines for a start,” Buenaventura said.
Buenaventura also mentioned that the barangay prepared around 100 personnel, of which 22 are registered nurses and three physicians, who will facilitate the entire process and administer the vaccination to individuals.
As of 2:58 p.m. on Saturday, Rep. Duterte’s office said the 461 individuals, who earlier registered, received their first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.
The Catalunan Grande’s vaccination hub will operate every Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For registration, the residents may contact their respective purok leaders or visit their Barangay Health Center. The said barangay vaccination hub will accommodate residents in their area and those in the neighboring barangays.
The successful opening of the Vaccination Hub was also made possible through the help of the Department of Health (DOH), Davao City Health Office (CHO), Department of Education (Deped), and Pulong Pulong ni Pulong generous sponsors.
