DAVAO CITY – At least five families affected by the fire in Barangay 76-A Bucana here last week received cash assistance from First Congressional District Rep. Paolo Duterte and Councilor-elect Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II on Tuesday, June 17.  

Rigo facilitated the distribution of cash assistance to the fire victims, who earlier received food packs and other essentials from the first district office.  One of the victims, in an interview with a local radio station, said that her newly renovated home was among the three houses that were completely burned. She was grateful some of her belongings were saved.  

A fire broke out at Purok 19 Bilusa in Bucana on June 11 at around 10:10 a.m. that totally damaged three houses and two other houses partially damaged, leaving the affected families homeless.  

Rep. Duterte earlier encouraged the fire victims to remain resilient in the face of adversity, emphasizing the importance of staying strong and hopeful despite the loss.
