DAVAO CITY – Around 119 families displaced by the February 10 fire in Barangay 76-A Bucana received additional relief assistance on February 11 and 12 from the Office of First District Rep. Paolo Duterte and Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II.   

Staff from the two offices distributed food packs, potable water, and PZD kits to affected residents. Meal packs for breakfast and dinner were also provided. Students received school supplies, while children were given snacks and treated to a brief magic show to help lift their spirits amid the disruption.  

Organizers said additional assistance, including kitchenware such as cooking utensils and other essential household items, is scheduled for distribution in the coming days to help families gradually restore daily routines and resume meal preparation in temporary shelters.   

The latest round of aid followed the First District Office’s earlier relief efforts. On Tuesday, personnel immediately delivered food packs, water, and hot porridge to families staying in Purok Malambuon, Ecoland, shortly after the fire.   

The Office of Liga ng mga Barangay President and Davao City Councilor, January Duterte, also extended food packs to address urgent nutritional needs and provide temporary relief as families begin recovery.   Initial reports indicate the fire broke out around 3 a.m. on Tuesday and quickly spread across the densely populated area. Fire authorities raised the first alarm at 3:16 a.m., followed by a second at 3:40 a.m., and a third at 5:03 a.m. The blaze was declared under control at 6:01 a.m.   

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Davao City reported that at least 50 houses were destroyed while 15 others sustained partial damage, affecting hundreds of residents. The fire burned approximately 2,000 square meters. No injuries were reported.
