Over 900 Seniors, PWDs Join Inclusive PPP Fun Run in Davao City
DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Dec. 13, 2025) — More than 900 senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) gathered along the Davao City Coastal Road on Saturday for the PPP Seniors and PWD Fun Run 2025, an inclusive community event promoting health, mobility and social engagement.
Organized by the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) Movement, the activity drew a total of 918 participants, nearly reaching the target of 1,000 runners. The event featured multiple race categories designed to accommodate varying levels of ability, including 5-kilometer runs for “Super Seniors” and wheelchair-bound participants, 3-kilometer races for seniors and PWDs able to run, and a 2-kilometer assisted category for those requiring support.
Carrying the theme “Padayon Ta!” (Let’s Keep Moving Forward), organizers emphasized that the fun run was not about competition but about participation, dignity and community solidarity.
“This event highlights the importance of staying active regardless of age or physical condition,” organizers said. “It is a celebration of resilience and inclusivity, where everyone is encouraged to move, engage and be part of the community.”
Medical teams and emergency response units were deployed throughout the route to ensure participant safety. Organizers also required medical clearance for all runners. Participants received free race kits, including singlets, timing-chip bibs, meals and souvenirs.
Beyond the race, the event featured photo and reel-making contests to encourage broader community involvement and showcase the experiences of participants.
Local officials and organizers described the initiative as a step toward building more inclusive and accessible programs for seniors and PWDs in Davao City. They noted the strong turnout as a sign of growing public support for activities that promote both physical wellness and social connection.
The PPP Seniors and PWD Fun Run is part of a broader effort to empower vulnerable sectors through community-based programs that foster health, confidence and unity.
