Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte added another feather to his cap when he was awarded Congressman of the Year (Green Category) during the Nation Builders Honorary Awards 2023 and MOSLIV Awards at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila on Thursday.

Itinulak ni Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte ang agarang pagpasa ng isang panukala upang maging libre ang freight service para sa mga emergency relief goods na ipadadala sa mga lugar na tinamaan ng kalamidad.

Sinabi ni Duterte na ang panukalang Relief Goods Free Transportation Act (House Bill 4809) ay magpapabilis sa relief delivery system ng bansa at titiyak na ito ay mura, maaasahan, mabilis, at ligtas.

Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte has called for the swift passage of a measure aiming to grant free freight services for the transport of emergency relief goods and donated articles to calamity-hit areas.

Duterte said the proposed Relief Goods Free Transportation Act (House Bill 4809) will streamline the relief delivery system, ensuring it is economical, reliable, speedy, and secure.

Nagpahayag ng kanyang suporta si Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang sa isinusulong na House Bill 3541, na ang layon ay magkaroon ng agricultural livelihood program para sa mga persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa penal farms.

Sinabi ni Catapang na may katulad ng programa na ikinakasa sa Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm sa ilalim ng Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security ng Department of Agriculture at Department of Justice.

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. fully supports the proposed law that would mandate all prison facilities to provide agricultural livelihood programs for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

Catapang said the proposed legislation  can ensure “food security and sustainability not only for our PDLs but also for those living near our operating prison and penal farms nationwide.”

MANILA – Prison officials on Wednesday echoed their unequivocal support for the proposed legislation mandating prisons and penal farms to implement agricultural livelihood programs for inmates.

In a statement, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said he is supporting House Bill No. 3541, which mandates all penal institutions with areas suitable for agriculture to implement agricultural livelihood programs for prisoners.

Ang panukala ni Duterte ay tugon sa kakarampot na pondo para sa pagkain ng mga persons deprived of liberty o PDLS.

Sa loob ng mga piitan sa ating bansa, alam ‘nyo bang bukod sa pagsisiksikan, isa pang malaking problema ay ang kakarampot na P70 kada araw lamang ang nakalaan na badyet para sa almusal, tanghailan at hapunan ng mga nakakulong o ang mga tinatawag na person deprived of liberty (PDL)?

Nagpanukala noon ang Department of Justice (DOJ) sa hearing ng kanilang kagawaran para sa taong 2024 na itaas kahit man lang sa P100 kada araw ang food allowance ng bawat PDL.

Hiniling ni Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte ang agarang pag-apruba sa kanyang House Bill 8985 na layong magtayo ng halfway houses sa buong bansa na magsisilbing kanlungan at proteksyon ng mga inabusong kababaihan at mga bata.

Aniya sa kabila kasi ng RA 9262 o Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act ay laganap pa rin ang gender-based violence.

Tinukoy nito ang datos ng Philippine National Police (PNP), kung saan nakapagtala ng 7,424 na kaso ng paglabag sa RA 9262 noong 2022 at 8,430 naman noong 2021.

Rep. Paolo Duterte filed a bill that aims to establish facilities that will provide temporary protection, support, and treatment to abused women and children across the country.

House Bill (HB) 8985 proposes to set up these facilities called “halfway houses,” Duterte said.
