Sa ilalim ng panukalang Child Support Responsibility Act (House Bill 4807) na akda ni Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, ACT-CIS Representatives Edvic Yap at Jeffrey Soriano, ang mga magulang na paulit-ulit na hindi magbibigay ng sustento ay maaaring makulong ng dalawa hanggang apat na taon at pagmumultahin ng P100,000 hanggang P300,000.

DAVAO City 1st District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte on Tuesday said he wants to send to jail “deadbeat” parents found to have deliberately and repeatedly neglected their obligation of providing child support.

Duterte filed House Bill (HB) No. 4807 with three other lawmakers and proposed that parents with recurrent offenses of failing to send financial support to their child or children be punished with imprisonment of two to four years, depending on the discretion of the courts. They should also be made to pay a fine ranging from P100,000 to P300,000.

Duterte and three other MPs want to jail and penalize parents who don’t support their child or children with alimony. Duterte, Eric Yap, a representative from Benguet, and Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano, all from ACT-CIS, are the authors of the measure.

Under the proposed Child Support Responsibility Act (House Bill 4807) authored by Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Representatives Edvic Yap, and Jeffrey Soriano, parents who repeatedly failed to send financial support to their child or children will be meted with two to four years jail term and a fine of P100,000 to P300,000.

Parents who deliberately and repeatedly neglect their obligation of providing child support should be sent to jail.

Under the measure, parents with recurring offenses of failing to send financial support to their child or children will be punished with imprisonment of two to four years, depending on the discretion of the courts.
