Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte has facilitated the early payout of salaries for his office’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD program beneficiaries.

Duterte did so that he could ensure a happier celebration of the holidays for his constituents in the first district, which has 54 barangays.

TUPAD is a community–based cash assistance program that offers emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not more than 30 days, depending on the nature of work.

On top of this, the potential law will also improve productivity among the law enforcers, Duterte said.

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives approved House Bill (HB) No.6509 or the free legal assistance to MUPs measure on third and final reading.

CHRISTMAS and the incoming celebration of the New Year are a lot happier for many families in this city’s 1st district after the office of Representative Paolo Duterte made sure that the payout for beneficiaries of the government’s emergency employment program was completed before the onset of the holiday season.

According to Duterte’s office, thousands of families from the 1st district’s 54 barangays benefitted from the cash assistance under this program – the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” (TUPAD).

PROVIDING free legal assistance to men and women in uniform facing charges in connection with the performance of their duties will help boost morale and productivity among the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other law enforcement agencies, according to Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.

Duterte said the recent approval by the House of Representatives on the third and final reading of House Bill (HB) No. 6509 is a step closer to providing this legal protection to “uniformed personnel who are wrongfully accused and charged, especially when their job involves having to expose high-profile criminal syndicates.”

HB 6509, a consolidation of the bill jointly filed by Duterte and Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, along with other similar measures, covers military and uniformed personnel (MUP) of the AFP, PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Duterte said the move of the House of Representatives to approve House Bill 6509 on third and final reading recently is a step towards providing legal protection to “uniformed personnel who are wrongfully accused and charged, especially when their job involves having to expose high-profile criminal syndicates.”

He urged the Senate to pass its counterpart measure of HB 6509 once Congress resumes session next month.
