Solons push for unfair debt collection practices’ end
Concerned that violations of debtor’s rights to privacy and unfair debt collection practices are becoming prevalent, Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte and Benguet Representative Eric Yap filed a bill seeking to stop the malpractices and protect both the debtor and the creditor.
House Bill 6681 or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act seeks to regulate debt collection practices of debt collectors to protect borrowers from abuses, harassment, unfair treatment and misrepresentations and to also ensure that debt collectors would not be disadvantaged.

TAX INCENTIVE SA MGA KUMPANYA NA TATANGGAP NG SENIOR CITIZEN, ISINULONG SA KAMARA
Itinutulak ngayon ni Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte na bigyan ng tax incentive ang mga pribadong kompanya na mapapatunayan na nag-eempleyo ng mga senior citizen.
Sa ilalim ng House Bill 2384, itataas ang tax deduction sa 25% mula sa kasalukuyang 15% ng halaga na ibinayad ng kompanya na suweldo sa mga empleyado na senior citizen.
Para maging eligible sa tax deduction, ang senior citizen ay dapat nakapag trabaho ng anim na buwan sa pribadong kumpanya at ang taunang kita ay hindi dapat lagpas sa poverty threshold na itinakda ng National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) at National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

Rep. Duterte irked by fixers using his name
DAVAO CITY—First District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte has warned of serious repercussion to anyone he would catch using his name to fleece money from indigents who only want to avail of medical and food assistance from his office.
His warning came after he was informed of alleged fixers using the name of the First Congressional District Office in their nefarious activities.
He was visibly irked by an information reaching him that a woman has been claiming to be an employee at his congressional office here and who had been reported recruiting people who needed medical assistance from his congressional office.

May diskwento sila sa pamimili ng kanilang mga gamot at pangunahing pangangailangan, at gayundin sa paglalakbay, sa pag-dine in at take out sa mga restaurant. Sa mga local government unit ay may diskwento o libre na ang panonood ng sine ng mga seniors.

In a press statement, Duterte said in Cebuano: “I will let them kneel in front of San Pedro Church for two nights, and then the appropriate charges will be filed.”

Bill offers incentives package for employers hiring seniors
Congressmen underscored this adage in a bill seeking to broaden job opportunities for retired senior citizens.
House Bill 2384 filed by legislators Paolo Duterte of Davao City, Eric Yap of Benguet and Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano of ACT-CIS party-list, also offers enhanced tax incentives for private entities employing senior citizens, or those aged 60 years old and above.
“Age has been a constant barrier to opening employment opportunities for many of our physically and mentally able senior citizens who want to continue working to help augment the meager pension and retirement savings they have,” Duterte said.

Bill seeks higher tax incentives for firms that hire senior citizens
To encourage private firms to hire more senior citizens, lawmakers have filed a bill seeking to increase the amount of tax incentives enjoyed by private companies that employ elderly citizens.
In filing House Bill 2384, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte has urged the private sector to broaden the job opportunities for senior citizens who still want to work. He said this will help them meet their financial needs while continuing to contribute to the country’s post-pandemic economic growth.
