Sa House Bill 6857, sinabi nina Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, at ACT-CIS Representatives Edvic Yap at Jeffrey Soriano na maraming pasyente ang gumagastos ng malaki sa pamasahe at akomodasyon sa pagpunta sa Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center at Philippine Cancer Center na pawang matatagpuan sa Metro Manila.

Paolo Duterte, 3 others file bill establishing regional specialty hospitals
Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte and three other lawmakers have jointly filed a measure seeking to establish regional specialty hospitals.
In House Bill 6857, Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Representatives Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano proposed the establishment of regional branches of the Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center and the Philippine Cancer Center to bring their services closer to the public.
In order to get the expertise of the hospitals’ medical professionals and its advanced amenities and equipment, the authors said “patients are being encumbered by the additional expenses on transportation and accommodation” since the specialty hospitals are located in Metro Manila.

Parents of kids with disabilities to get P2,000 monthly ‘ayuda’ under House bill
House members are pursuing the immediate approval of a bill that, if enacted, would grant parents of children with disabilities (CWDs) a P2,000 monthly subsidy or “ayuda” from the government.
The measure, embodied in House Bill (HB) No.6743, was filed by Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte, Benguet lone district Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Party-list Reps. Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano.
“This proposed measure seeks to provide the [government] support and assistance needed by children with disabilities through a provision of a monthly subsidy to their parents in order to help alleviate the challenges they continuously face amid the rising costs of living,” the bill’s authors said.
Under HB No.6743, a CWD refers to a person below 21 years old with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of an individual’s functions or activities.

Citing a study by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) done in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the bill’s authors pointed out that expenses for raising a CWD is 40 to 80 percent higher than that for other kids without disabilities.
