Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng isinampang panukalang batas bilang 6857 na tinawag na Regional Specialty Hospitals Act na layong makapagtayo ng regional branches ng mga specialty hospitals sa bansa tulad ng Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center at Philippine Cancer Center.

“This is to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare services to all Filipinos, through the provision of specialty hospitals in the different regions of the country,” pahayag ni Duterte.

For this purpose, the three solons filed House Bill (HB) No.6857, or the proposed Regional Specialty Hospitals Act. The bill intends to establish regional branches of specialty hospitals in the Philippines, which–unfortunately for those living in the countryside–are concentrated in Metro Manila.

These are the Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and the Philippine Cancer Center.

Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte and three other lawmakers have jointly filed a measure seeking to establish regional specialty hospitals.

In House Bill 6857, Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Representatives Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano proposed the establishment of regional branches of the Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center and the Philippine Cancer Center to bring their services closer to the public.

In order to get the expertise of the hospitals’ medical professionals and its advanced amenities and equipment, the authors said “patients are being encumbered by the additional expenses on transportation and accommodation” since the specialty hospitals are located in Metro Manila.
