MANILA – Three members of the House of Representatives have filed a measure granting an across-the-board 20 percent discount to indigent public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers on the payment of fees and other requirements in securing a professional driver’s license.

In filing House Bill (HB) 8070, Davao City (1st District) Rep. Paolo Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap said the discount applies to, among others, examination fees, certificates, clearances and enrolment in accredited driving schools.

Bukod sa pagpapatupad ng PUV Modernization Program, sinabi ni Duterte na ang maraming kinakailangan na ipinataw ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa pag-a-apply para sa isang professional license ay magdaragdag sa mga problema sa gastos ng mga PUV drivers lalo na ang mga nabubuhay sa kahirapan.

Naghain ng panukala si Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte at dalawa pang kongresista para mabigyan ng 20% diskwento ang mga mahihirap na driver ng pampublikong sasakyan na kumukuha ng professional driver’s license.

Sa House Bill 8070, hiniling nina Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, at ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Edvic Yap na ibigay ang diskwento sa examination fee, kinukuhang certificate at clearance, at pag-aaral sa accredited driving school.
