Impoverished applicants of professional driver’s licenses can get a break if a bill sponsored by Davao City (1st District) Rep. Paolo Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Edvic Yap gets approved and becomes a law.

Known as House Bill (HB) 8070, it aims to provide applicants of professional driver’s licenses a discount on examination fees, certificates (birth and medical), clearances, and enrolment in accredited driving schools.

Bukod sa pagpapatupad ng PUV Modernization Program, sinabi ni Duterte na ang maraming kinakailangan na ipinataw ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa pag-a-apply para sa isang professional license ay magdaragdag sa mga problema sa gastos ng mga PUV drivers lalo na ang mga nabubuhay sa kahirapan.

Naghain ng panukala si Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte at dalawa pang kongresista para mabigyan ng 20% diskwento ang mga mahihirap na driver ng pampublikong sasakyan na kumukuha ng professional driver’s license.
