Uniform retirement benefits for judiciary officials pushed
Lawmakers called on the Senate for the swift passage of a measure that aims to ensure that retirement benefits are uniformly granted to officials in the judiciary.
Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte said judiciary officials conferred with the same judicial rank as those of justices and judges have been unfairly treated when it comes to the grant of survivorship pensions and other benefits due them because of the absence of a law that expressly provides them these privileges.

But DOH budget suffers P10B cut
WHILE Malacañang has increased the fund for cancer treatment by almost half a billion in the proposed P5.768 trillion national budget for 2024, the Department of Health’s own budget has been slashed by as much as P10 billion.
In a break from the past when Congress would chide the Palace for cutting cancer control and treatment allocations, Deputy Speaker Ralph Recto of Batangas said the Marcos administration has proposed that this year’s Cancer Assistance Fund be doubled to P1 billion next year.

This was the wisdom behind House Bill (HB) No.500, which was principally filed by Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte at the beginning of the current 19th Congress.
Duterte said this globally recognized strategy, called the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, should be institutionalized and provided sufficient funding to ensure that underserved and remote communities are able to decide which programs and projects should be implemented to suit their needs.
