Duterte emphasized the need to approve the measure, especially with strong typhoons and calamities that continue to displace thousands of families.

MANILA, Philippines — A bill that, if enacted, would require the government to provide rental subsidies for informal settler families (ISFs) should be prioritized by the House of Representatives, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte said.

Duterte, in a statement, said that House Bill (HB) No. 455, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Act will allow ISFs to seek better shelter, especially during the typhoon and southwest monsoon season.

A measure that would grant rental subsidies to eligible informal settlers is being sought in the 19th Congress amid the prevalence of strong typhoons and other calamities that displace tens of thousands of families.

Davao City First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Z. Duterte remains among the top-performing District Representative in the Davao Region, according to the recent survey carried out by the RP-Mission Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).

Rep. Pulong garnered 84.7 percent, reflecting a notable 3.4 percent increase from the 81.3 percent on the April 2023 survey, next to Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora of Davao de Oro with 85.2 percent. Statistically, within a margin of error of +/-1 percent, Rep. Pulong and Rep. Zamora are both at the top of the list.
