DAVAO CITY – Almost 2,000 identified beneficiaries from the first district received on Thursday, April 20, the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) payout from the First Congressional District Office.
Rep. Paolo Duterte’s office noted 881 delivery riders and 1,005 barangay police auxiliary received their payout on Thursday at the People’s Park of Davao City. There are still more than 2,000 riders, police auxiliary, and shine boy to receive their payout this year.
The First Congressional District Office and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 11 have assisted thousands of impoverished residents through the TUPAD program.
TUPAD is a community–based package of assistance that offers emergency service for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, not more than 30 days, depending on the nature of work.
Displaced, disadvantaged workers, unemployed, and senior citizens were given opportunities by the government in various community improvement projects, including tree planting, gardening, canal de-clogging, and refurbishment of tourist attractions.
Rep. Duterte earlier said that the office prioritizes assistance to marginalized/displaced workers. The lawmaker hopes this program will help the beneficiaries during these challenging times.
