DAVAO CITY - The office of first district Representative Paolo “Pulong” Z. Duterte distributed more than 900 food packs to public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and masseurs here in Davao City.

The congressman’s staff distributed on Friday, June 19, a total of 220 food packs to PUJ drivers in Barangay Matina Aplaya 75-A. Each food pack has 3 kilos of rice, 6 canned goods, and 3 noodles.

Barangay Matina Aplaya 75-A councilor Jimmy Poliquit said that all the PUJ drivers from 42 puroks of the barangay, including the 45 members of the Smart association will receive the food packs.

Samahan ng Maralitang Manggagawa Alang sa Repormang Transportasyon (SMART) Association president Generoso Salumbro, on behalf of SMART, thanked Duterte as the food packs are of big help to them.

The same food packs were also distributed to more than 298 PUJ drivers in Matina Pangi and Matina Crossing on Friday, and on Thursday to 256 drivers plying around the Ecoland and Route-2 areas.

Aside from receiving food packs from Duterte, the drivers were also registered to accident death insurance courtesy by the Coco Life through the Dumper Partylist Rep. Claudine Diana Bautista.

 

Duterte’s office also distributed food packs to 220 masseurs, including those freelance masseurs, says PESO in-charge Lilibeth Pantinople in an interview at Davao City Recreation Center (DCRC).

Gemay Palacio, a masseur for seven years, expressed his gratitude to the congressman. She said that this is the second time she received a food pack from the Office of the First District.

“Dako kaayo ning tabang tungod kaming mga masahista dili pa makabalik sa among trabaho. Upat na ka bulan ang milabay gikan wala mi pa trabahoa usa tungod kay delikado ang COVID,”Gemay said.

All the 54 barangays in the first congressional district also received food packs from Duterte. Even other local government units in Davao Region also received assistance from the congressman.
