First District Office, Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte II Extend Round-the-Clock Relief to Talomo Flood Victims

DAVAO CITY – As floodwaters forced families to flee their homes on Friday evening, First District Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte and Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II immediately mobilized their offices, staff, and volunteers to provide emergency assistance to residents affected by the flash floods in Barangay Talomo.

Continuous heavy rains caused a nearby creek to overflow, inundating several communities and prompting local authorities to conduct a preemptive evacuation to ensure the safety of residents. Through the Office of the First Congressional District and the Office of the Vice Mayor, immediate relief operations were launched to support families seeking refuge in evacuation centers.

Recognizing that comfort can come from something as simple as a warm meal, Rep. Duterte and Vice Mayor Duterte organized community feeding activities throughout the night. Relief teams first served 90 cups of freshly cooked lugaw at the Our Lady of Lourdes Central Park Gym, followed by 60 cups at the Bangkal Satellite Gym in Royal Valley.

Before dawn on July 25, volunteers continued their relief mission from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., reaching flooded communities and evacuation sites in the Talomo Cemento area, Barangay Talomo Gym, Talomo Elementary School, and Talomo National High School.

By the end of the feeding operation, a total of 790 cups of lugaw and 70 bottles (350 ml) of drinking water had been distributed to evacuees and flood-affected residents.

As conditions allowed, relief efforts transitioned from emergency feeding to food pack distribution. On the evening of July 25, relief teams distributed 540 food packs to families in NHA Bangkal (Purok 54, Purok 56, and Phase 2 & 3), Muslim Village, and Bulusan, Barangay Talomo

The assistance continued on July 26, with an additional 960 food packs delivered to flood-affected households, ensuring that more families received immediate support during the recovery period.

The round-the-clock relief operations highlight the unwavering commitment of Congressman Paolo "Pulong" Duterte and Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II to stand beside Dabawenyos during times of crisis.

Through the dedication of their staff and volunteers, timely humanitarian assistance reached affected communities, providing not only food and basic necessities but also reassurance that no family would have to face the aftermath of the flooding alone.
