DAVAO CITY – First Congressional District Representative Paolo Z. Duterte, in collaboration with other government agencies, kicked off its three-day caravan with marginalized and displaced workers in Davao City.

The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), Livelihood and Anti-Drug Campaign Caravan was designed to provide cash assistance and to bring anti-drug advocacy to beneficiaries.

Almost 400 beneficiaries attended during the kick-off of the caravan held at the People's Park on Wednesday, December 16. The caravan will run until December 18.

Rep. Duterte's office also coordinated with the concerned barangay officials to ensure widest reach of the caravan to its beneficiaries, which will come from the first district of the city.

More than 23,000 marginalized and/or displaced workers, earlier assigned to 15 days work, and about 3,000 people to receive livelihood are expected to benefit from the caravan. 

The beneficiaries who will receive the assistance are as follows: the hotels, bars and resto staff; massage therapists and blind masseurs, single parents, persons with disability, service crews, and fisherfolks, among others.

Aside from giving cash aid, Rep. Duterte encourages all the beneficiaries to participate in the anti-drug campaign of the government. The campaign is still a priority under President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s administration.

Rep. Duterte partnered with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to make this caravan possible.
