Duterte Rejects Sale of First Home in Davao, Clarifies No Ties to Rumored Girlfriends, Remains Cheerful in ICC Detention

Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has firmly rejected any plans to sell his home in Doña Luisa Village in Davao City, saying the property holds deep sentimental value as the first house he purchased with his own money — a personal milestone he is unwilling to part with even while detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

This was revealed by his son, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, who recently visited his father at the ICC Detention Center in The Hague.

“Amo siyang gipangutana kung ibaligya ba daw ang balay — dili gyud daw. Kana iyang balay, mao daw na ang iyang unang balay, ug dili gyud siya gusto nga ibaligya na,” Rep. Duterte said during an interview with the Alvin & Tourism Facebook Page.

He also clarified that the house in question is distinct from the property of Honeylet Avanceña, Duterte’s longtime partner.

“Kang Ma’am Honeylet, naa man daw siya’y kaugalingong dako nga balay. Dili kana nga balay iyang ginapuy-an,” Pulong added, further dispelling rumors of any internal family dispute over property.

“No Relationship” with Ma’am Jazz, Jokes About Girlfriends.

Amid online speculation about Duterte’s personal life, Rep. Duterte directly addressed rumors linking his father to a certain “Ma’am Jazz.”

“Wala man daw siya’y relasyon kay di man daw sila ig-agaw,” Pulong said simply.

The former president, known for his often unfiltered and irreverent humor, also had a quip about his past romantic connections: “Sa iyang mga uyab, pangita na lang daw mog laing uyab — kanang daghan daw credit card.”

The comment drew laughter from supporters present during the live interview — a sign that the 80-year-old Duterte hasn’t lost his trademark wit, even in detention.

Despite facing serious charges before the ICC for alleged crimes against humanity, Rep. Duterte assured the public that his father remains in good health and high spirits.

“Ok man siya. Karon, tarong iyang… sige’g pakatawa,” Pulong shared, describing the former president as calm and composed.

He also conveyed Duterte’s message to the Filipino people: “Pasalamat gihapon siya sa inyong suporta. Ayaw na daw siya kaayo problemaha, kay kung mao gyud daw na iyang destiny, mao na gyud daw na.”

The interview offered supporters a rare update on his condition and outlook as legal proceedings continue. As of this writing, the ICC has not issued any new developments on Duterte’s detention or potential interim release.

Duterte’s lawyer, Atty. Nicholas Kaufmann, however, said they expect a decision on interim release anytime within the month of July.
