DAVAO CITY – More than 100 victims of a fire incident received food packs from the Office of the First Congressional District on September 15, Tuesday afternoon, in Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao District in this city.

Rep. Paolo Duterte’s office distributed food packs containing three kilos of rice, six canned goods, and three noodles, including face masks to 129 families affected of the fire incident that occurred at around 2 a.m. on September 3.

Barangay Leon Garcia chieftain Lita Impis said that of the 129 families, 66 were house owners, 14 were renters, 34 were sharers, 10 were boarders and 15 were absentee house owners. All victims are temporarily sheltered at Leon Garcia Elementary School.

In the initial report earlier from the Davao City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), around 60 houses and seven classrooms of the Emmanuel Garcia Elementary School were gutted by fire leaving the victims homeless at the moment.

The barangay chieftain, in behalf of the victims, expressed her gratitude to the first congressional district office, especially to the young congressman, for the response to the needs of the affected families. 

The district office has been giving food packs not only to its constituents, but also to other areas of Davao where people are also in need of assistance like the victims of the fire and other emergency incidents.
