DAVAO CITY - The office of the first district Representative Paolo “Pulong” Z. Duterte in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) distributed cash assistance and food packs to more or less 1,400 marginalized workers at Davao People’s Park on Monday, July 6.
The marginalized workers, composed of barbers, hairdressers, and masseurs, received cash assistance from the government’s assistance program to mitigate the impact of the national health emergency due to coronavirus.
Registered beneficiaries received 3,960 cash assistance, this, according to the prevailing highest minimum wage in the region, as per DOLE. The workers were compensated based on the DOLE's program the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.
Aside from the cash assistance, Duterte’s staff also distributed food packs to beneficiaries. The office has been distributing food packs (three kilos of rice, six canned goods, and three noodles) to displaced workers including jeepney and tricycle drivers.
The distribution of food packs focused on the “poorest of the poor” from all 54 barangays in the first district. Duterte’s office is set to distribute more assistance to other marginalized workers
